Created from original photographs, each portrait preserves Reb Shlomo’s distinctive expression and movement.
Approximately 60 cm (24 in) tall, each piece is precision-cut from metal and mounted slightly away from the wall, allowing light and shadow to add depth and presence.

How the Portraits Feel at Home
From the pain, a prayer for light and salvation
״אֹרֶךְ יָמִים אַשְׂבִּיעֵהוּ וְאַרְאֵהוּ בִּישׁוּעָתִי״
“With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation”
Reb Shlomo Carlebach composed this verse as a melody for Chanukah, out of pain for the sons who fell in Israel’s wars and will never again light the Chanukah candles, and for those who lost their sight and can no longer see the light of the candles.
From that pain came a melody that is a prayer: that we may all merit to see God’s salvation.

About the Artist
My name is Shoshana Dror.
For many years, I have been designing Judaica products for industrial production, working with manufacturers and importers. Until now, I have worked primarily behind the scenes — the products I designed were produced and marketed under my clients’ brands.
I believe that a Jewish object is more than a functional item or a decorative piece. It can carry meaning, memory, and values.
In every creation, I strive to combine technical precision, artistic expression, and respect for the meaning it represents.
The Carlebach Portrait Series marks a new chapter for me — the first collection I am bringing directly to the public under my own name. It is also the first in an ongoing metal portrait project, with additional figures planned for the future.
